Integration with Royal Mail Click & Drop
Helm provides integration with Royal Mail Click & Drop, enabling users with a Royal Mail Click & Drop account linked to their Royal Mail OBA (Online Business Account) to use this method instead of alternative Royal Mail integrations
This documentation will guide you through acquiring the necessary API credentials from Royal Mail Click & Drop and incorporating them into Helm. It also outlines supplementary steps, such as registering a Click & Drop account and retrieving your Account Number and Poster Number from your Royal Mail OBA

Creating a Royal Mail Click & Drop Account
To integrate Royal Mail Click & Drop with Helm, you will need a Click & Drop account linked to your Royal Mail OBA. Follow the steps below to create one:
Select Register for Click & Drop
Complete the required fields and click Next
Note: Use the email address associated with your OBA.
You’ll be presented with two registration options:
Create a Click & Drop account independently
Link to an existing OBA account
Since integration requires linking both accounts, choose the second option.
Enter your Account Number and Poster Number, then click Next
(We’ll explain how to find these later)Optionally subscribe to marketing communications, then click Next
Click Go to login and check your inbox for an activation email
Click the Activate account link, set your password, and click Set password
You can now access your account by clicking Go to Click & Drop

Upon first login, you’ll be asked to complete your address and additional business information. Once saved, you’ll be redirected to your dashboard
Royal Mail will then verify your OBA details, which typically takes around 48 hours. You’ll receive a confirmation email once your accounts are successfully linked
If you already have a Click & Drop account and want to check whether it is linked to your OBA:
Go to My Account > My profile
On the right-hand side, look for Your OBA account details

Accessing Your Account Number and Poster Number
To retrieve your Royal Mail OBA Account Number and Poster Number:
Visit https://www.royalmail.com/discounts-payment/credit-account/online-business-account
Click Access Online Business Account
Under the Orders tab, select Your accounts
The Poster Number is in the Posting Locations column
Click the Invoices tab
Your Account Number appears under Customer Account
The Account Number begins with 0, while the Poster Number starts with 9. Both are 10-digit numbers

Obtaining the API Key
To obtain your Royal Mail Click & Drop API Key:
Navigate to Settings (top right)
Select Integrations
Click Add a new integration
Choose Click & Drop API
Fill in or edit the Default trading name and Integration name
(Use your Company Name as the Default trading name)Click Save
Your integration will now appear in the list. Click on it to access the details
Copy your Click & Drop API authorisation key — this, along with your trading name, is needed when configuring Helm

Customising Royal Mail Click & Drop Label Formats
To personalise your label formats:
Log into Click & Drop and go to the homepage
Click Settings (top right)
Select Label Format
Explore the label size and format options on the left
Preview how each option looks on the right
Once you’ve chosen your preferred layout, click Save

Installing Royal Mail on Helm
Royal Mail Click & Drop is a web-based shipping platform from Royal Mail, designed for fast and simple label generation, order management and dispatch
It is especially popular with online retailers who use platforms like eBay, Amazon and Shopify
Step 1: Get Your Royal Mail Click & Drop Credentials
Before installing Click & Drop in Helm, ensure you have the following credentials
You will need:
API Key
🔎 Your Click & Drop access token can be generated from within your Click & Drop account settings

Step 2: Install Royal Mail Click & Drop in Helm
To begin:
Open the Settings menu in the bottom-left corner of Helm
Use the search bar to type Couriers
Select the Couriers tab from the results

Step 3: Select and Configure Royal Mail Click & Drop
Click Install Courier in the bottom-right corner
Search for and select Royal Mail Click & Drop from the list
Click Continue to begin configuration
Enter the following details:
Field | What to Enter |
Courier Identifier | Internal name (e.g. “Click & Drop” or “RM C&D”) |
Account Type | Choose Live for production or Test for trial setup |
API Key | Your Click & Drop API token generated from your account |
💡 Tip: The Notes section (if shown) is for internal comments - only visible to you
Once done, click Save to activate the integration

All Set!
Royal Mail Click & Drop is now connected to Helm WMS
You can now automatically sync orders, print labels, and manage collections seamlessly
