View Options, Search & Heatmaps
The view controls in Helm Warehouse Mapping: finding a location code on the map with search, switching the grid, ruler guides and routing overlay on and off, and shading the map by Helm zone or by stock data with a heatmap.
Finding a Location
The Search code or SKU box in the editor header finds location codes assigned on the map. Where Helm supplies stock for the warehouse it also matches SKUs and descriptions.
Type part of a code. Matching locations are listed as you type, with the rack and level each is on.
Click a result. The map switches to that level if needed, centres on the rack and highlights it.
If the list is long you will see +N more - refine the search; type a little more of the code.
No matching locations on the map means the code is not assigned to any rack or storage point yet. Check the Unassigned pool in the Locations tab.

View Options
Click the eye icon in the header to open View options. Under Show you can toggle:
Grid: the drawing grid. When it is on, Grid size appears below with 50, 100, 250 and 500 mm steps; this is also the snap step for moving and resizing.
Ruler guides: the alignment guides you have dragged out from the rulers.
Floor plan underlays: the traced-over drawings, if any. See Levels, Layers & Floor Plan Underlays.
Routing points: the walking network the routing tools use, drawn over the plan. See Testing Pick Routes & Simulating Helm Jobs.
The same panel holds the Floor plan underlay controls and the Heatmap choice. It is available in 3D as well, where the heatmap applies to the 3D racking.
Zone Shading
Helm groups locations into zones. Shading the map by zone shows how those zones fall across the racking, which is a quick way to spot a code on the wrong rack or a zone boundary that no longer matches the floor.
Open View options and, under Heatmap, choose Helm zones.
Each rack takes the colour of the Helm zone its codes belong to. A legend in the bottom-left corner lists the zone names and colours.
Choose No heatmap to switch it off.
A rack whose codes fall in two zones is also flagged with a warning on its Zone field in the Properties panel.
Stock Heatmaps
The other heatmap modes colour racks by stock data from Helm: Capacity · quantity (units held against the location's capacity), Capacity · volume (stored volume against the location's size) and Velocity · pick frequency (how often each location is picked, relative to the busiest). Racks for which Helm has not supplied the relevant data stay uncoloured, and the legend says so, so an uncoloured rack means "no data", never "empty".
Which of these modes light up depends on the stock and pick information Helm provides for your warehouse. Zone shading works for every warehouse with zones set up in Helm.
Best Practices
Use Zone Shading as a Check After Assigning Codes
Assign or import your codes, then switch on Helm zones. Zones should form solid blocks. A single rack in a different colour is nearly always a code on the wrong rack.
Turn the Grid Down, Not Off
If the grid is visually busy, set it to 250 or 500 mm rather than hiding it. Snapping still works at the finer step you need when you place racking.
FAQ
Search cannot find a code I know exists in Helm.
Search looks at codes assigned on the map. If the code is still in the Unassigned pool it will not appear; assign it to a rack first.
Why is every rack uncoloured in a capacity heatmap?
Helm has not supplied capacity or stock figures for those locations, so the map has nothing to colour. Zone shading does not need stock data.
Does the heatmap show in 3D?
Yes. Whatever mode you choose is drawn as a translucent colour over the racking in 3D, with the same legend.
If a zone colour looks wrong for a rack, select the rack and check the codes in its Properties panel; contact Helm support if the zones themselves look wrong compared with Helm.
