The Overview Dashboard

See today's order flow, your newest orders and how you are performing over any date range, all on Helm's home screen.

What the Overview Dashboard Shows

The Overview Dashboard is the home screen of Helm. It opens when you sign in, and you can come back to it from Dashboard > Overview in the sidebar. In one page it shows what is happening with today's orders, the orders that have just arrived, and how the business is performing over a period you choose.

Example: at 10am a warehouse manager opens Helm and sees 120 New Orders against 80 at the same time last week, with nothing yet in Packing. Before the afternoon courier collection, she moves two people from goods-in to packing.

Scroll for more: if you add more columns than fit in the panel, scroll sideways inside Live Orders to see the rest.

Choosing a Date Range and Comparison

The Dashboard figures, the Revenue chart and the Top 5 panels all follow the date range at the top right of the Dashboard section. Live Orders and Recently Added always show the latest data.

  • Date range: pick a preset, such as Today, Last 7 Days, This Month or Last 12 Months, or choose Custom and set the From and To dates and times. Click Apply.

  • Compare: choose Previous Period, Last Month or Last Year. Each figure then shows a percentage change against that period.

What the Figures Mean

Figure

What it means

Orders

Revenue

The total value of those orders.

Average Order Value

Revenue divided by the number of orders.

Despatched Orders

Orders despatched in the date range.

On Target

The share of orders despatched within their despatch target. Targets come from your Despatch Target Rules.

In Live Orders, each column counts orders in that status, with a percentage showing the change since the same time a week earlier. Common columns include New Order, Processing, Picking, Picked, Packing, Draft, Cancelled Today and Despatched Today.

Tip: click a product name in Top 5 Products to open that product, or use the report links on each panel to see the full detail in Reports.

Best Practices

  • Set up Live Orders for your role. A packing lead might show Picked, Packing and Despatched Today, while an account manager might add a folder for priority customers.

  • Compare like with like. Use Last Year during seasonal peaks, and Previous Period for week-to-week checks.

  • Watch the gap between Orders and Despatched Orders. A growing gap over a few days usually means work is building up somewhere in the warehouse.

  • Set up Despatch Target Rules so On Target shows a meaningful figure.

  • Go deeper with the other dashboards. Sales, Inventory, Customer Care, Cost and Warehouse Performance each focus on one area.

FAQ

There are no orders in the selected date range. Choose a wider range, or check that your sales channels are connected and orders are coming into Helm.

On Target depends on despatch targets. If you have not set up Despatch Target Rules, or no orders were due in the period, it stays at 0%.

The same time one week earlier. The comparison date and time are shown under the Live Orders title.

No. Your Live Orders layout is your own. Colleagues can copy it with Use View if they want the same set-up.

Yes. Turn on Demo Environment from the account menu in the top-right corner to see the dashboards filled with sample orders. See Welcome to Helm.

Check the Overview Dashboard at the start of each shift to see where today's orders stand, then open the detailed dashboards or reports when something needs a closer look.
